Color Me Rad!

Last weekend we went to the Color Me Rad run in Calgary. It was one of those fun runs which is something I would do since I'm not very athletic! I had such a good time that I will for sure be doing this again next year. We will try to get a team of people fo sho! Here are some pics from the race!

Palawan Day 1 - Underground River

Our second week in the Philippines was spent in El Nido, Palawan. From IloIlo this is only a 45 minute plane ride to Puerto Princessa. From there it is a 5 hour long scary ride in a van through winding roads and to top it off the driver likes to be a speed racer. This is one of my most breath taking places I have ever been to. It was also quite an experience for me. I'm pretty accustomed to living in Canada and we booked this trip via the Internet. It was only about 150$ for 3 tours, a place to sleep with breakfast and lunch included. This sounded too good to be true and it was when it came to our accommodations! You really learn how to appreciate what you have when you're sleeping in a bed full of ants and the water always runs out!

Our first day was spent on an underground river tour. It's a really busy tour so if you're late which I think we were, we ended up waiting 3 hours. The Puerto Princessa underground river is pretty amazing. It's the world's longest underground river and it was so long we didn't go through the entire place. Mother nature carved out some interesting looking stalactites and stalagmites. You'll go through one section that our tour guide called the fruit and vegetable section and you actually see corn! One section of the cave actually looked and felt like a Gothic cathedral because of the formations and the height of the ceiling. Before we go on this tour we're on this one island full of monkeys. They advise you not to carry any plastic bags and we thought they were joking until this one person almost got attacked by a monkey as she was putting shells into her plastic bag. The island also has kimodo dragons and tonnes of mosquitoes. I'd advise to soak yourself in some heavy duty insect repellent and do not bring a plastic bag!! Below are some pictures of our river tour! Stay tuned for Palawan Day 2! :)

On our way to the island where the underground river is.

This is the crazy monkeys that really love plastic bags.
